June 6th & 7th, 2018 Note…
Wednesday & Thursday, June 6 & 7, 2018
Hello!
Wednesday and Thursday have been a fun couple of days watching the kids reconnect with friends they haven’t seen for a while, and watching them start some new friendships, too! Thanks to each of you who brought your kiddos for a visit! Here is a little update for you about our Wednesday & Thursday activities.
Wednesday and Thursday Activities…
Outdoor Fun:
We spent both Wednesday and Thursday aiming to spend lots of time outside being active and enjoying “Backyard & Water Play Fun”. I went to the store the other day and stocked up on bunches of fun summer supplies for the kids. These past two days they have enjoyed things like * Beach Balls & Inflatable “sharks” * Hula Hoops * Water balloons * the Crazy Sprinkler * Measuring Cups, Measuring Spoons & Colanders in the water table * water play with “ketchup” style Squirt Bottles * Spray/Mist Bottles * Spray Chalk * Funnels in the water table * Bubbles / Bubble Machine * Mermaid toys (almost like little Barbie Dolls) in the water table and other assorted backyard games and supplies.
Classroom Space:
The kids spent time in our classroom space, too, both days and enjoyed that. Several friends enjoyed noticing all the little changes that have happened in that space since they started kindergarten last August!
“Favorite” Activities…
The kids said some of their favorite activities today were:
* Singing, spray bottles, the mermaids and the bubbles.
* Playing downstairs, the water table toys, playing in the backyard with the “crazy” sprinkler, and looking at books in the late afternoon.
* Playing in the water today. One friend was especially excited about the water balloons this afternoon. He transitioned from what appeared to be “totally asleep” on his mat in the living room at naptime to “standing on the deck picking up a water balloon” in a matter of about 60 seconds! : )
* “Playing downstairs – the one new stuff – the princesses.” One friend discovered a new princess dress in one of the toy containers downstairs and said she liked that. She also seemed excited about helping the new “mermaid” dolls swim in the water table.
* “Water balloons and playing with friends”, “Playing downstairs – I liked playing Beauty Shop. Playing in the sprinkler.” Swinging on the swings!
* “Water balloons and playing in the backyard”. “Playing downstairs (playing with the Duplos). Eating outside (lunch on the deck).”
* “Hmmn… Inside would probably be playtime (Dramatic Play: Kitchen) and outside would probably be the sprinklers.”
* “Inside – reading! I’m gonna reach my goal, now! You could look at new pictures and read new books (the tall bookshelf to the left at the bottom of the stairs). Outside – running in the sprinklers!”
* “My favorite was water balloons!” “I really liked playing outside because I love doing… the crazy sprinkler. I really liked that; and inside I really liked doing the… (alphabet) transformers. I really liked doing these.”
Wednesday Meals…
Breakfast was cinnamon toast waffles, bananas, milk, and water.
Lunch was hamburger pizza, relish tray vegetables (carrots, sweet red peppers, sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets), cantaloupe, water, and milk.
Snack was Triscuit crackers, Monterey Jack cheese slices, deli ham slices, deli turkey slices, cherry tomato halves, fresh basil leaves (that we “harvested” from one of our special “herb” flowerpots on the front porch!) water, and apple juice. Afterwards the kids each had one freshly-baked homemade chocolate-chip cookie, too.
Thursday Meals…
Breakfast was blueberry waffles, original Cheerios, honeydew melon, milk, and water.
Lunch was chicken pot pie (chicken breast, carrots, corn, green beans, parsnips, leek, chicken broth, flour, salt & pepper, and Pillsbury pie crust). The kids had a second entrée as well, just to make sure everyone got full. I baked them a cheese pizza. The kids also had bananas, milk, and water.
Snack was Cheez Its crackers, water, and apple juice.
Thanks for reading and have a great night!
