Hello!
Wednesday Activities…
We had a nice morning!
Science/Outdoor Activities: Today the kids checked out our Praying Mantis egg case up close, our caterpillars (in their chrysalis stage) up close, and everyone had a turn to visit our science table in the garage and look through all the items that interested them. Outdoors, the kids enjoyed the deck and/or the backyard.
French Toast Casserole Recipe: The three boys teamed up with me for a little while this morning and helped make “French Toast Casserole” that we will bake tomorrow morning for the kids’ breakfasts. The boys used kids’ knives to help cut lots of bread slices into little cubes. After that they helped crack two eggs each, helped stir up the eggs in a bowl along with some milk and some vanilla, and then we poured the egg and milk mixture over the top of our bread cubes in a casserole dish. Cinnamon & sugar sprinkles were next, and now we have to refrigerate our casserole overnight. Tomorrow morning, we will find out what the boys think of their cooking! (The recipe on allrecipes.com had 4 + stars, so it should be good!)
Banana Bread Recipe: This afternoon the girls teamed up with me to make homemade banana bread. We will get that baked and plan on it being part of lunch or snack tomorrow. The girls took turns adding ingredients and stirring. We added all of the dry ingredients to one bowl, all of the wet ingredients to another bowl, practiced counting to twenty while we stirred each one, and then added the contents of both bowls to the mashed banana. We used an electric mixer to finish.
Classroom Space/Story Time: After snack today, everyone went to our classroom space to enjoy sharing areas with friends.
Wednesday Favorite Activities…
Some of the things the kids said they really liked today were * Playing “Castle” * visiting the science table * Mixing the eggs * playing the Mr. Mouth game * checking out the praying mantis egg case * playing in the backyard * playing in our classroom space
Wednesday Meals…
Breakfast was chocolate chip waffles, fresh blueberries, and milk
Lunch was chicken ‘sliders’ (shredded chicken breast, Campbells Chicken Gumbo soup, and Basmati rice on a tiny hamburger ‘slider’ bun). Six of the kids loved it and had thirds. One friend was a little more cautious since it was something new, but the friend still ate most of theirs. On the side the kids had steamed black beans/edamame/corn, applesauce, water, and milk.
Snack was baked spaghetti squash (we called it ‘noodles’), whole grain Goldfish “pretzel” crackers, and apple juice.
Thanks for reading and have a great night!
