Hello!

I hope each of you enjoyed the long weekend! Our Tuesday is going well! This morning the kids started out by choosing areas in our classroom space and playing there during arrival time. Next, they started on some homemade books we are making, called “Growing a Flower”. Breakfast was next, and then some more fun activities. Here are two FYIs, and then some more about our day:

* FYI - All of our March photos are loaded to our group Facebook page, now.
* FYI – There is a copy of our April calendar in each child’s cubby basket today.

Planting Seeds… We planted green bean seeds in little cups today. The kids were excited about that, and it tied in nicely with the little homemade books we started!

Story time… Over the weekend I bought us three new board books and we read those this morning. “Rainbow Fish” is just a slightly shortened version of the original story. The kids found that new board book this morning in our Books/Literacy area. They also found a fun “Rainbow Fish” stuffed animal. “Little Blue Truck’s Springtime” was another new board book. The kids liked that it is a lift-the-flap book. Our third new board book is called “Little Yellow Bee” and also has flaps the kids can lift.

Changing the Calendar… This morning one group of friends teamed up to take down our March calendar from the wall in our classroom space. This afternoon, or tomorrow morning, the kids can hang up the pieces we need so far for our April calendar.

Homemade Books, Continued… The kids used scissors, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, and/or glue bottles while they worked on their little books today.

Giant Birthday Card… We started on a new giant birthday card today that will be from the group. We have at least two birthdays coming up in the next few weeks!

Math Game: “Unlock It!” Number Match… After rest today, the kids shared a fun math game. The kids get to match keys to padlocks and then they get to use their successfully-matched key to unlock the padlock.

Favorite Activities…
Some of the things the kids said they really liked today were playing in the classroom space, singing, playing musical instruments, playing with friends, playing Pirate Ship, building with linking cubes, playing with the Shark toys, playing with water, bubbles and paint brushes on the deck this afternoon, playing with the Fisher Price Little People sets, playing House, and playing with the Baby Dolls.

Tuesday Meals…
Breakfast was slices of homemade banana bread, Original Cheerios, fresh watermelon chunks, and skim milk. Lunch was chicken, vegetables & rice (seasoned chicken breast, carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, Lundberg Wild Rice blend), cantaloupe, honeydew melon, Country White bread/butter, and skim milk. Seven of the kids really liked the chicken, veggies, & rice, and asked for thirds! Snack was animal crackers, and organic apple juice.

Thanks for reading and have a great night!
