FYIs…
* Closed Friday the 14th – Just a reminder that I will be closed this Friday the 14th. If anyone needs a new copy of our “Open and Closed” dates for 2018/2019, just let me know and I can get one to you!
* August Photos – FYI if you haven’t already seen them, all of the kids’ “August” photos were loaded onto our group Facebook page over Labor Day weekend.
* September Calendars – September calendars (September 1st through October 5th) are in the kids’ cubbies today!
* August Calendars - August calendars are in the kids’ cubbies today as well. I purposely waited to print/distribute those. What I did this year and last was make an August calendar just for myself of what I hoped we would be able to do, and then left myself the option to change things around as needed while the kids adjusted during the first few weeks of preschool. I made changes to my plan when necessary, and then made an accurate calendar at the end of the month of what we really did. I know some families like to keep those so wanted everyone to have a copy.
Thursday/Friday Activities…
On Thursday and Friday, some of our activities included having some fun with two “Letter C” Show-n-Share times, finishing a group birthday card, spending time in the classroom space, playing ball on the deck, singing, reading stories about grandparents, updating our calendar downstairs, and working on finishing our Grandparent’s Day cards.
Monday Activities…
Today (Monday) some of our activities included:
“Pass the Baton” Game: The kids took turns holding a fun “pointer” tool at breakfast time and taking turns being the speaker. While each child held the baton, they were invited to tell a fun story about their stay home days while everyone else listened, and then after about a minute, they would pass the baton to the friend on their left and let them talk.
ABC Chant: We practiced our ABC Chant/actions twice this morning.
Circle Time, Singing, Calendar: The kids each chose a song they wanted the group to sing today. We also spelled each friend’s name out loud, sang about the weather and the months of the year, counted forwards to ten, backwards from ten, and played their “Blast Off” game after counting down to zero.
Classroom Space: We spent time in the classroom space this morning and again this afternoon.
Backyard & Deck: Everyone got to spend some time on the deck this morning and this afternoon. This morning one group of friends had a turn playing in the backyard before lunch, and then another group had a turn after snack this afternoon.
“Here Comes the Apple Tree”: We read this book (about the life cycle of an apple tree) this morning. There were some good photos for the kids to see!
“Ten Apples Up on Top”: We read this Dr. Seuss book in the afternoon today and then had some fun with a basket of wooden blocks decorated to look like apples. The kids were invited to check and see how many “apples” (apple blocks) they could stack before their towers tipped over!
“Letters D/d”: We started talking about the letter D today and words that start with D.
